Burger & Shake [Launch Review]

I was honoured to be asked along to the Burger & Shake launch last night for a feast of milkshakes, burgers (unsurprisingly), lobster rolls and wings. They have set up shop opposite the Brunswick Centre just down from Russel Square tube in a little unit just down from The Marquis Cornwallis pub at 47 Marchmont Street.

The unit is fairly small and the site used to be home to a cafe. I actually really liked the interior, tThe watercolour blues, greens and white tiles with silver ceiling gave it a lighter, almost old-school chip shop sort of feel. Makes a nice change from the usual leather sofas, red paint, and chrome that is so synonymous with American-style diner food. I think I liked that they hadn't been lazy and fallen into the stereotype.

As stated it was a launch event so I wont give too much detail on the food as tweaks will inevitably be made. What I will say is that I really enjoyed it; maybe not quite the best burgers and dogs in London (yet) - but waaaay up there and more than good enough to deserve a visit. The hot wings were some of the best I've had, the burger had good flavour and the breads were amazing. Desert rich and addictive. We left happy bunnies.

Overall the food is pretty close to being where they want it to be. A little extra salt here, a little extra crispiness there, and they will have themselves a great hangout joint. The staff were absolutely lovely, and when they are still memorable the next day you know service was great. Really looking forward to seeing this place grow in the next few months - hopefully I'll still be able to get a table!
